Example Flow: Processing Deviation Surveys

FlowsJanuary 30, 2026

This Flow covers how to use a Flow to process your deviation surveys. The Flow uses the following tools:

  • PointsInput >> Brings the deviation surveys data into the Flow
  • DeviationsToXYZ >> Processes the deviations
  • PointsOutput >> Writes the flow to a new points database

The PointsInput is where you select your import deviations survey. You should import deviation surveys in a format similar to what is shown here with columns for API, MD, Inclination, and Azimuth.

The DeviationsToXYZ tool puts the deviations into the format Danomics uses internally for all displays, mapping, and gridding operations. All you need to do in this tools is ensure your column names match the options. PointsOutput will write the result, which will look like the following.

Tips and Tricks

  • Make sure to process your deviations before you do any of the other gridding flows the require deviations or before using them in a petrophysics project.
  • Make sure that the input / output have distinct names!

NMR Interpretation Module

Purpose The NMR interpretation module allows users to calculate porosity, bound and free fluids from the measure T1 and T2 distributions from NMR tools. Primary Outputs Discussion In oil and gas well logging, the $T_2$ distribution is used as a high-resolution "map" of the formation's pore system. While a standard porosity tool tells you how much fluid is there, NMR tells you where that fluid is trapped and whether it will flow.

General Concepts in Flows

Because Flows will be a new concept to many of you it is important to understand the general concepts that flows are built upon. These concepts are: Many tasks are repetitive These tasks should be done consistently These tasks can often be split into small pieces. What Are Flows? Flows are batch processing system that combine Flow tools to perform operations consistently across a dataset, and are especially useful for repetitive tasks like gridding data.
